Report: Detroit Lions’ Ndamukong Suh fined $31,500 by NFL

The dreaded FedEx envelopes from the NFL are piling up for Ndamukong Suh.

The Detroit Lions defensive tackle has been fined again by the league, this time for a hit Sunday on Cleveland quarterback Brandon Weeden, according to an Associated Press report.

The report Thursday said Suh has been fined $31,500 for the hit, bringing his career total to seven fines for more than $200,000 since he was drafted No. 2 overall in 2010.

“I think there’s always going to be a microscope on me,” he told reporters recently. “I think there has been a microscope on me since I was first drafted.”

No microscope necessary to detect some of Suh’s infractions. He’s among the dirtiest players in the league, despite his immense talent.

Particularly memorable was him stomping on the arm of Evan Dietrich-Smith in 2011 when the Green Bay offensive lineman was lying on the ground, an infraction that earned Suh a two-game suspension. This season, Suh was fined $100,000 -- the largest fine in league history for on-field misconduct -- when he threw an illegal block on Minnesota center John Sullivan during an interception return. Suh dived at his knees from the side.

That fine was nearly double the two largest fines of last season -- a combined $105,000 -- on a pair of hits by then-Baltimore safety Ed Reed.
