Memphis Grizzlies owner challenges Michael Jordan to go one-on-one

Just because Robert Pera has made millions of dollars and acquired ownership of the Memphis Grizzlies by his mid-30s doesn’t mean he always uses great judgment.

According to Yahoo! Sports, Pera has challenged Michael Jordan to a game of one-on-one, with $1 million going to the charity of Jordan’s choice if the Charlotte Bobcats owner can beat Pera in a game to 10.

Yes, that’s right, a businessman is saying he can beat the greatest player ever. Whatever.

Pera apparently believes that being 15 years younger than the 50-year-old Jordan would provide an acceptable equalizer.

Jordan recently said that in his prime he would have been able to conquer any of today’s NBA greats with the exception of Lakers star Kobe Bryant, whom the Chicago Bulls legend claimed stole too many of his moves.

Jordan never made any mention of Pera. It’s not hard to imagine why.

Pera, who is 6-foot-3, should probably stick to owners who are more comfortable in boardrooms than on the hardwood. His Twitter followers suggested a game against Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban, triggering some trash talk from Pera.

“What’s with all the 1:1 with @mcuban talk?,” Pera tweeted. “I’m in, but I would make quick work of him...

“If we are talking an owner game, get me MJ! I’ll up the charity contribution to $1mm.”

Indeed he will, if Jordan accepts.
