Football: Scott Meyer is feeling happy at Servite

It’s going to be quite a challenge for first-year Coach Scott Meyer taking over the program at Servite, but so far, so good.
“There’s no beach nearby, but I’m really happy,” said the former Corona del Mar head coach. “The kids are working hard.”
Servite will begin spring practice on May 11. The Friars need to find a starting quarterback, but the player to watch will be receiver-defensive back Terrell Bynum, a junior-to-be with lots of potential. There were signs of what he’s capable of doing last season. He has speed, good hands and jumping ability.
Myer has put together a talented coaching staff. Oscar McBride is the new offensive coordinator. He was an assistant at Tesoro, which did a good job with balance running and passing. The new defensive coordinator is Brian Pearsall, the former Saddleback Valley Christian head coach. And former Servite and USC running back D.J. Shoemate is returning to coach running backs.
Servite will be hosting a weekly four-team passing competition on Wednesday nights beginning in July.
