Ex-Shark Owen Nolan gets $4 million for Bay Area home

Retired NHL star and San Jose Sharks captain Owen Nolan and his wife, Diana, have sold a home in San Jose for $4 million.

The Mediterranean-style house, built in 2010, sits at the end of a long drive with a motor court, a courtyard-entry, expansive lawns and viewing balconies. The 3.16-acre site takes in wide valley and city views.

Replete with hardwood flooring and coffered ceilings, the 9,464 square feet of space includes a center-island kitchen, grand living and dining rooms, five bedrooms, seven full bathrooms and three powder rooms. A home theater, a wood-paneled office and a recreation room with a wet bar are among the amenities.

The couple, having decamped to a house at the Almaden Country Club in late 2013, put the property on the market last summer for $4.9 million. It was most recently listed for $4.3 million, according to the Multiple Listing Service.

Mark Chiavetta of Coldwell Banker Los Gatos was the listing agent. Jean-Luc Laminette of Alain Pinel Realtors represented the buyer in the sale.

Nolan, a right wing, played 18 seasons in the NHL for the Quebec Nordiques/Colorado Avalanche, San Jose Sharks, Toronto Maple Leafs, Phoenix Coyotes and Minnesota Wild, making five all-star teams. The 43-year-old currently hosts “Sportsman 360 TV,” a hunting and fishing series on the Wild TV network.
