Hospital Accuses County of Owing It Millions
- Share via
Sutter Medical Center says Sonoma County owes it more than $2 million for psychiatric treatment of County Jail inmates.
When Sutter assumed responsibility for the county hospital in 1996, it agreed to let the county run the 30-bed psychiatric facility on its behalf under a profit-sharing arrangement.
Deputy County Counsel Kathleen Farrelly said that while the county and Sutter share profits, Sutter is protected from losses.
County officials said inmates are not covered by Medi-Cal, which pays for treatment of most patients at the psychiatric facility.
