Nine people--most of them small children--were hurt in a car collision Friday in South Los Angeles, authorities said.
A pickup truck and a minivan carrying an adult and eight children in an after-school program collided just before 5 p.m. as they traveled northbound on the 1100 block of South Crenshaw Boulevard, said Los Angeles Police Sgt. Paul Partridge.
The driver of the pickup truck and one child were taken to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, where they were in critical condition, said city fire spokesman Brian Humphrey.
The driver of the crumpled minivan and seven other children received only minor injuries, Humphrey said.
