Plaschke: Red Is Wrong, but Clippers Are Cool
- Share via
I enjoyed reading Bill Plaschke’s wonderful article on retiring football referee Red Cashion [Dec. 21]. But he missed the call when he referred to football as “our national pastime.”

Bill Plaschke’s views on the pleasure of attending a Clipper game [Dec. 14] struck a chord. After trying to get Laker tickets when sales began and being rebuffed, I responded to a Clipper five-game promotion.
The evenings spent at the Sports Arena have been different basketball, without the high-powered spin and hype, without the multimillion-dollar stars, in a relaxed atmosphere that makes sports viewing fun again. You can even get there on time and stay until the end and not worry about being “super cool.” Thanks, Clippers.
Now if you can just hang in there through all four periods, it will be even better.
