Residents interested in a seat on the city’s Board of Adjustment/Design Review Board have until 5 p.m. Jan. 2 to submit applications.
The City Council will select three people to serve as regular members through January 1999, and one to serve as an alternate through January 1998.
The five-member panel considers requests for coastal development permits and for variances from the city’s zoning code. Members also consider design review issues.
The board meets at 6:30 p.m. every Thursday. Members are also expected to visit project sites and review plans.
An average of 10 to 20 items are considered each week. Board members are paid $120 per month.
Board members are expected to have the ability to understand architectural drawings and visualize building mass and volumes. Experience in landscaping, architecture, real estate, historic preservation or the building trades is also helpful.
Applications are available in the city clerk’s office at City Hall, 505 Forest Ave. City Council members will appoint the new members during their regular meeting at 6 p.m. Jan. 7.
Applicants can call (714) 497-0705 for more information.
