Tea Sipper’s Lament
Art Fein’s article (“The Travails of Tea Drinking”; July 6) struck a responsive chord with me. I have long since learned that I only drink tea at home, where it will be properly brewed. However, the difficulty of getting a good “cuppa” is not entirely the fault of restaurants who don’t know how to prepare it. It is also the fault of Americans who don’t know how to drink it. My husband and I were dining out when the couple in the next booth ordered tea. The gentleman chose 1 packet of Earl Grey, opened it, dipped the bag three times into his cup, then handed it to his wife who did the same. And then they actually drank it!
