Two faculty members of the pathology department...

Two faculty members of the pathology department at the University of Michigan Medical School have been named to positions at Camarillo-based BioSource International Inc., a supplier of biomedical research test kits.

Michael Jones, an instructor and researcher, has joined BioSource as its vice president of research and development. He will supervise an expanded program that will concentrate on production of the basic components in the firm’s product lines and the identification of potential new products.

He has been an instructor in immunology, immunochemistry, molecular biology and biomedical research techniques, and has been a consultant to NASA and private corporations.

Peter Ward, a professor and chairman of Michigan’s pathology department, will serve on BioSource’s scientific advisory board. He has been a consultant to various commercial and government research organizations.

Yoshihide Hagiwara, founder of Oxnard-based Green Foods Corp., is a recipient of Japan’s Drug and Medical Meritorious Service Award for 1994.

The award is in recognition of Hagiwara’s extraction techniques that allow nutrients to be stabilized and retained during the powderizing of raw vegetables and Chinese herbs.
