Firms to Produce Air-Conditioning Systems: Caterpillar Inc. will jointly produce large-capacity systems powered by natural gas-fueled engines with York International Corp. The systems will be used to cool industrial and commercial buildings as efficiently but more economically than most electric systems, said Richard Thompson, Caterpillar vice president. York is a maker of heating, ventilating, air-conditioning and refrigeration products. The new units will be made at Caterpillar’s Lafayette, Ind., plant and at York’s plants in York, Pa., and San Antonio.
