Garfield d. Los Angeles Center for Enriched Studies, 15-5, 15-7, 16-18, 16-15, 15-13--Garfield setter Victor Ramirez and middle blocker Raul Briones each had 13 kills and the Bulldogs came back from a 10-4 deficit in the fifth game to win a second-round match Thursday.
The Bulldogs (13-2) took a 16-15 lead in the third game and had five chances to win the match. Los Angeles CES, however, scored the next two points to take a 17-16 lead and won the game on setter Wesley Omoto’s serving ace.
Los Angeles CES won the fourth game to tie the match and held a 10-4 lead in the deciding game, but Garfield scored 10 unanswered points.
Ian Garcia-Hittelman had 21 kills and Omoto had a game-high 33 assists to lead Los Angeles CES.
