Shootings Rank Third in Child Death Causes

ATLANTA — Only auto accidents and drownings account for more accidental deaths among children than shootings, according to federal health authorities.
From 1982 to 1988, more than 3,600 children under age 19 died in accidental shootings, most of which occurred at home, according to a report released Thursday by the Centers for Disease Control.
