Freeman McNeil criticized the NFL free-agent system from the witness stand, rejecting arguments by league attorneys that being well paid makes up for not being able to choose his own team.
Frank Rothman, the NFL’s lead attorney at the antitrust suit in Minneapolis, spent the morning cross-examining McNeil, implying that the New York Jets’ all-time leading rusher was overpaid for the last two or three seasons.
McNeil is among eight players who have sued the NFL over free agency.
