Italian Porn Star Makes Understated Debut at Parliament

ROME — Porn star Ilona Staller, a newly elected member, made a restrained first appearance in Parliament on Wednesday, confounding predictions she would walk topless into the corridors of power.
Staller had said she wanted to enter Parliament in a transparent dress with her breasts exposed, but modesty appeared to have prevailed when she went into the building for a meeting of new members.
The blonde sex star, who was elected to the Chamber of Deputies on a Radical Party ticket last month, wore a tight white dress, white stockings and a gold crucifix.
The pink teddy bear she carried during her controversial election campaign was absent, but she held a pink makeup case.
“I’m going to take being a member of Parliament seriously,” she told reporters.
Staller was attending a meeting ahead of today’s official opening of Parliament, when she will formally take her seat.
