Sausalito: Cavallo Point guest rooms on sale starting at $225

Cavallo Point in Sausalito is close enough to San Francisco for great views of the bay but far enough away to be a quiet retreat. The site of the former Fort Baker, now part of Golden Gate National Recreation Area, features historic and contemporary rooms, which are on sale for a few days at online travel site Jetsetter.
The deal: The Jetsetter deal allows guests to choose renovated rooms that date to the old fort’s barracks or contemporary rooms that are built into a hillside above the former post. The cheapest rooms in this deal start at $225 a night for a historic room with a king-sized bed, but contemporary rooms and suites also are discounted. Daily yoga, wine hour, and coffee and pastries in the morning come with the room too.
When: The offer is good until Wednesday for stays through May 30, based on availability.
Tested: I tested this deal online and found plenty of availability for the $225 rate midweek and $230 on weekends. For the weekend April 12 to 14, I found a historic room for $230 a night (usually $309) and a contemporary room with views of the Golden Gate Bridge for $310 a night (usually $379). Note there’s a $25 daily resort fee.
The savings are good on this one-of-a-kind place to stay on the bay, though Jetsetter warns potential buyers that “foghorns may wake you up at night.” At least you know in advance.
