The Huli Wigmen are the highlight of Asia Transpacific Journeys’ 15-day “Papua New Guinea Kundu Festival” itinerary, which features hundreds of other tribes that flock to Milne Bay for canoe races set to the beat of traditional war drums. The trip also includes visits to sacred spirit houses, a Sepik River cruise and wildlife viewing.
Itinerary: Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea, to Mount Hagen, Timbunke, the Sepik River, Ambua, Madang, Malolo, Tadwei Island, coastal villages, Alotau and Tawali
Dates: Departs Oct. 25
Price: $9,195, double occupancy (single supplement, $2,200), including lodging, almost all meals, tour guides, medical insurance, transfers, entrance fees, gratuities to local staff and airport taxes. The price does not include airfare.
