California Duck Days

When, where: Feb. 20 to 21, Yolo Bypass Wildlife Area Headquarters and the Davis Arts Center.

Highlights: A wetlands festival with a gala reception, more than 40 field trips and workshop and wildlife viewings.

Cost: Some events are free; workshops and field trips start at $20 (free for 16 and younger).

SAN DIEGO

Dos Aguilas Binational Fiesta

When, where: March 6, San Diego Natural History Museum.

Highlights: The seventh annual benefit to support the museum’s binational education and scientific-research programs will include live music, dancing and access to the museum’s exhibits.

CAPAY VALLEY

Capay Valley Almond Festival

When, where: March 15, throughout Esparto, Capay, Brooks, Guinda and Rumsey.

Highlights: An almond-themed celebration includes children’s activities, artisans’ booths, a farmers market, wine tastings, live music and the crowning of an almond queen

Cost: Free.

SAN LUIS OBISPO

San Luis Obispo International Film Festival

When, where: March 6 to 15, the Fremont, Palm and Downtown Centre theaters are the main venues, but films and events will take place countywide.

Highlights: The 15th annual festival will screen 100 independent films from around the world. Special events include a tribute to stunt cowboys at Santa Margarita Ranch and a showcase of films made by children.

Cost: Varies per event, but multiple-screening passes start at $45; individual screenings, $9.
