Keukenhof, meaning “kitchen garden,” dates to the 15th century and has taken place in the gardens of Teylingen Castle since its conception, according to the event’s website. Holland’s annual exhibition of flowering bulbs runs from March through May, and with hues like that, who could resist an innocent social media brag? This flower mosaic representing Big Ben and Tower Bridge was created for the 2013 event.

According to the festival’s website, Cannes was created in 1939, then reborn in 1946 after several years of turmoil thanks to World War II. And anyone who is anyone attends. The rest of us just hound their Instagram feeds for deets. While Cannes red carpet staple George Clooney and his lovely lady, Amal, weren’t at the 2017 event, celeb selfies were still aplenty.

Maybe it’s the hundreds of bizzare and beautiful art installations. Maybe it’s the casual nudity. Whatever the reason, Burning Man has been going strong since 1986. Founded by a group of artists, filmmakers and photographers, the annual event encourages collaboration between its audience and artists. The weeklong event takes place in Black Rock City, Nev.

Created in 1991 as a farewell tour for the band Jane’s Addiction, Lollapalooza was originally a touring festival. In 2005 it was retooled to its current format, a four-day event in Grant Park. Smaller branches of the festival take place in several other countries. Between the lineup (including Chicago’s own Chance the Rapper in 2017) and the picturesque skyline, it’s no wonder Lolla made the cut.
