Leonard Williams soaks in the NFL draft process

Former USC defensive lineman Leonard Williams, a projected top-five NFL draft pick, will attend the draft in Chicago.

“I don’t know why you wouldn’t go,” Williams said on Saturday after the Trojans’ spring game.

Williams, 6 feet 5 and 302 pounds, could be the first player to appear on stage with NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell on April 30.

Quarterbacks Jameis Winston and Marcus Mariota, projected as possible top-10 picks, will watch the draft from home.

Williams has not visited the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who have the No. 1 pick.

Williams visited the Tennessee Titans and Jacksonville Jaguars last week. The Titans have the No. 2 pick, the Jaguars No. 3.

“I was just trying to soak it all in and enjoy the process,” Williams said.

Williams has said he would like to be the top pick. On Saturday, he said he does not care which team drafts him.

“It is a dream to play in the NFL, and it doesn’t matter what color jersey or helmet I’m going to be putting on,” he said.
