Authorities have recovered Tom Brady’s missing Super Bowl jersey – and a second one from New England’s Super Bowl victory over Seattle two years ago – in the possession of an international reporter who was credentialed to cover the game.
The NFL released a statement Monday saying the quarterback’s jersey, which was stolen from the locker room in Houston after Super Bowl LI, was recovered as part of a joint operation among the league, Patriots security and the FBI.
Houston Police Chief Art Acevedo tweeted that the jersey was traced to Mexico. The item has been valued at $500,000.
In another surprising twist, authorities also recovered the second jersey. It had not been previously reported that that one was missing.
Houston police are scheduled to hold a press conference at 9:30 a.m. PT.
