UCLA football: Anthony Barr, Xavier Su’a-Filo named team MVPs

UCLA linebacker Anthony Barr and offensive lineman Xavier Su’a-Filo were named the team’s defensive and offensive most valuable players.
Barr, a senior, was considered among the top defensive players in the nation this season. He was a finalist for the Lombardi Award, given to the nation’s top defensive lineman or linebacker. He was named to the Walter Camp All-American team.
Su’a-Filo, a junior, was a first-team All-Pac-12 selection. He played tackle and guard this season.
Quarterback Brett Hundley was named the winner of the team’s Paul I. Wellman Award for All-Around Excellence.
The scout team player of the year awards were renamed for UCLA receiver Nick Pasquale, who died when struck by a car in September. Guard Carl Hulick won for offense, defensive end Zach Vinci for defense and running back Ryan Davis for special teams.

Jack R. Robinson Award for Highest Scholarship by a Senior: Aramide Olaniyan.
N.N. Sugarman Award for Best Leadership: Su’a-Filo (offense), Eric Kendricks (defense), the entire kickoff coverage team (special teams).
Captain Don Brown Award for Most Improved Player: Devin Lucien and Paul Perkins (offense), Anthony Jefferson and Ellis McCarthy (defense), Kenny Orjioke and Christopher Longo (special teams).
John Boncheff Jr. Award for Rookie of the Year: Myles Jack (defense), Alex Redmond and Caleb Benenoch (offense), Jayon Brown (special teams).
Ed Kezirian “Coach K” Award for Academic and Athletic Balance:
Scott Quessenberry and Kenny Clark.
Tommy Prothro Award for Outstanding Special Teams Player: Ryan Hofmeister.
Kenneth S. Washington Award for Outstanding Senior of the Year: Shaquelle Evans (offense), Jordan Zumwalt (defense), Stan McKay (special teams).
George W. Dickerson Award for the Outstanding Offensive Player against USC: Hundley.
Donn Moomaw Award for Outstanding Defensive Player against USC: Cassius Marsh and Barr.
Bruin Force Award: Kendricks and Barr.
Jerry Long “Heart” Award: Librado Barocio.
UCLA Captains Award: Hundley, Su’a-Filo, Barr, Kendricks, Hofmeister and Jake Brendel.
