It was two years in the making, but Chicago Bears receiver Devin Hester finally had another return for a touchdown to tie Deion Sanders’ NFL-record 19.
It came on an 81-yard punt return for a score against the Washington Redskins on Sunday afternoon. His previous return for a touchdown came against the Detroit Lions in a 37-13 victory on Nov. 13, 2011.
Like the Hall-of-Famer that he matched in the record book, Hester has scored on a variety of returns. He now has brought back 13 punts for touchdowns, extending his own NFL record. Hester also has returned five kickoffs for scores, as well as one missed field goal.
Sanders, a playmaking cornerback, returned six punts and three kickoffs for touchdowns. He also returned nine interceptions and one fumble for scores.
