Update: Coming off a 3-1 loss to the Galaxy last weekend, Chivas USA has a chance to rebound on the road against a team that it has already defeated twice this season. Three of Chivas’ six wins this season have come on the road, including a win a Jeld-Wen Field on April 7. Chivas also won the most recent meeting between the two clubs at the Home Depot center on July 18. Between the two matches, Portland fired its head coach, John Spencer, and replaced him with Gavin Wilkinson on an interim basis. Portland is one of only two MLS clubs to have allowed more than a single goal to Chivas this season. Saturday, the Timbers will be without goalkeeper Jake Gleeson, who is in London playing for New Zealand in the Olympics. With a week off to rest and strategize, scoring opportunities could be plentiful for Chivas.
