Las Vegas needs Ravens to win the Super Bowl

Las Vegas bookmakers need the Baltimore Ravens to win the Super Bowl.

Jay Rood, head of the multi-property MGM Resorts race and sports books, told The Times on Sunday afternoon he has moved the San Francisco 49ers from four to 4 1/2-point favorites based on the volume of bets supporting the five-time Super Bowl champions.

“My worst number now is 49ers winning by four,” Rood said, a reference to the fact that the heavy betting on San Francisco previously would be deemed a no-bet push while Ravens’ bettors drawn in by the line move would benefit by Rood’s shift.

As you read in my previous piece, this has been a crazy weekend.

Someone poured a little too much stuff into my orange juice this morning, but I was emboldened by it enough to ask Rood what the best bet on the board was for this game because of it.

(I’ve got your backs, friends.)

Anyway, Rood said he thinks the best bet is the under 48 points, based on the fact that both defenses play like mothers, and that San Francisco quarterback Colin Kaepernick may be a little overblown on hype given the fact he’s started fewer than 10 NFL games.

So that’s the wager I’m investing in. Hope you all do well in these very important games behind the games.
