The Los Angeles district attorney’s office did not decide Wednesday whether to prosecute Kings defenseman Drew Doughty on the basis of a woman’s claim that Doughty sexually assaulted her in March.
Doughty’s attorney, Craig Renetzky, had said Tuesday that he hoped a decision would be made before the end of the week.
Renetzky also said he has been in constant contact with Doughty and that Doughty has been cooperating with police in their investigation of the matter.
“We anticipate a decision within the next 48 hours,” Renetzky said Wednesday. “We expect the D.A. will agree with us and conclude that these charges are not warranted.”
