Football: Royal wins appeal for formation of new leagues

The Southern Section Council voted Thursday to uphold an appeal by Royal on the formation of new leagues for 2014-18.
The new leagues for football only in the Marmonte League will be (group A) Westlake, Moorpark, Camarillo, Thousand Oaks and Newbury Park; (group b) Royal, Oak Park, Simi Valley, Agoura and Calabasas. The vote was 30 in favor, six against and 39 abstained.
Of course, there could be more changes if St. Bonaventure and Oaks Christian win a lawsuit filed against the CIF Southern Section trying to prevent being moved to the parochial area. The two schools were previously in the Marmonte League for football only.
