Football: Former Placentia Valencia Coach Dave Pinckney dies

Dave Pinckney, who was the head coach at Placentia Valencia in the 1970s and a longtime assistant at El Dorado until his retirement, died last Friday at LaVell Edwards Stadium in Provo, Utah, while waiting to watch his alma mater, Brigham Young University, play a football game. He was 81.

“Dave was a tremendously loyal coach,” said former El Dorado Athletic Director Carl Sweet.
