Cross country: Austin Tamagno of Brea is Gatorade state runner of the year

Austin Tamagno, a junior at Brea Olinda, has been selected the Gatorade state runner of the year in boys’ cross country.
He won the Division III state championship this past season with a time of 15:09 and led the Wildcats to a state team title.
He broke the course record at Mt. SAC with a time of 14:23. He also has a 3.92 GPA.
“What sets Austin apart from other runners is his belief in doing the extraordinary,” Coach Jeremy Mattern said.
