Homeless man arrested after being found passed out in garage

A Newport Beach man arriving at his home shortly after midnight Tuesday was surprised to find a homeless man in his garage, allegedly passed out drunk.

Police arrested Christopher Dean Hawks, 45, on suspicion of public intoxication about 12:30 a.m. Officials said it wasn’t immediately clear how he managed to get inside the garage in the 100 block of 47th Street.

Records show Hawks has a 10-year history of public intoxication arrests in Orange County.
