Andy
Andy was rescued at 2-weeks-old from a Costa Mesa warehouse and is being bottle fed by Jacki Morris of Newport Beach.
The bottle-feeding experience develops a very close bond between humans and the animal, but when raised without another kitten to play with, some problems may develop, which is why it’s recommended to adopt two together.
Kittens learn boundaries and social skills through play, which is another reason to get two!
Some kittens raised alone can stalk, bite and scratch the caregiver’s ankles during play. A kitten isolated from play with another animal can even draw blood as it grows bigger and playing with its human playmate gets to be rough.
Another issue of bottle-fed kittens raised alone can be inappropriate urination, because some may become angry and lonely and not understand after all the human attention why they are left for long periods of time.
All kittens need a playmate of equal energy to become well-socialized. If you know of any kittens needing rescue that are 3 or 4 weeks old, call (949) 759-3646.
Meet cats and kittens for adoption noon to 4 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays at Fashion Island sponsored by Russo’s Pet Experience. See photos of available animals at www.animalnetwork.org.
