A day to be down to earth
Earth Day, observed annually on April 22 since 1970, is a day to honor and celebrate the planet and raise awareness about the environment.
Here are some ways to participate:
?
?Crystal Cove State Park has purchased native plants with a $2,000 grant received from Edison, which they will plant with volunteers at El Moro, Reef Point and Pelican Point (Lot No. 2 and the Los Trancos Lot) from 9 a.m. to noon April 25.
?Laguna Outreach for Community Arts will host an “earthy art” project following the April 25 gardening project, and Trader Joe’s in Crystal Cove has donated food and two of its employees (former chefs) to host a barbecue cookout for Earth Day Volunteers after the event.
To volunteer, make reservations to [email protected].
?Neighborhood Congregational Church, 340 St. Ann’s Drive, will feature the dance and reflection “From Conflict to Compassion,” a healing prayer and ritual for the earth and for ourselves, at 10 a.m. April 26 in honor of their annual Earth Day Celebration.
