Free jewelry for those who lost jobs

A Fountain Valley jeweler has joined 41 others nationwide in offering free necklaces to residents who have lost their jobs or homes.
Ballard & Ballard Jewelers is donating 100 sterling silver necklaces, valued at $100 each. Owner Glenn Ballard said this is his business’ way of giving back in a time when he sees customers selling their wedding rings after losing their jobs.
“Here we are in this community selling a luxury product, and we have been getting a lot of support over the years, and seems like we have been getting a lot of customers who aren’t able to give the gift that they’ve wanted, so it feels good to be able to do something,” Ballard said.
To collect a necklace, bring in proof of termination or a foreclosure notice, and personal identification. The store is at 18400 Brookhurst St. Call (714) 962-0088.
