The California Highway Patrol is telling morning commuters to avoid Pacific Coast Highway near Topanga Wednesday morning after a woman was critically injured in an accident.
All eastbound and westbound traffic near Coastline Drive was expected to be closed until about 7 a.m., CHP officials said, as authorities investigate the crash. Eastbound traffic on PCH was being diverted north on Topanga Canyon Road, with westbound PCH traffic diverted onto Sunset Boulevard.
“Just avoid it,” said CHP Officer Jennifer Cassidy.
Authorities said a woman riding her bicycle was struck by a vehicle just before 5 a.m. The woman was rushed to a local hospital in critical condition. A big rig remained at the scene of the crash, Cassidy said.
