Three people who were killed in a multi-car crash in Fontana earlier this week have been identified as a mother, her boyfriend and her 2-year-old daughter.
The San Bernardino County coroner identified the two adult victims as Shawn Michael Scott, 33, of Fontana, and Helen Terry Amaya, 33, of El Monte. KTLA-TV identified the toddler as Amaya’s 2-year-old daughter, Joelene.
The crash occurred about 8:30 p.m. near Citrus Avenue and Foothill Boulevard when a speeding car ran a red light, Fontana police said.
Scott and Amaya’s vehicle was rear-ended while stopped at the red light; the impact shoved their vehicle into the intersection where it hit another car, police told CBS.
“Before they even crashed we heard him lock his brakes up,” Jacob Bojorquez, who was working at a nearby business, said. “And then it was like a bomb went off.”
Several other people were hurt in the crash, officials said.
