Il Grano celebrates its 15th year with a weeklong festa

I just got a note from Sal Marino, chef/owner of Il Grano, informing me that the Westside L.A. restaurant turns 15 this month. It seems like maybe it’s been a few years, but no way has it been that long! To celebrate, he’s organized a weeklong festa from Oct. 15 through Oct. 20.
He’ll be offering complimentary oysters and caviar and also has invited wine personages each night. On Monday, Oct. 15, Chrystal Clifton of Brewer-Clifton will be pouring the estate’s Central Coast Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Barolo lovers alert: on Oct. 16, Giovanni Cordero di Montezemolo will be pouring three 1997 Barolos. On Oct. 17, Cleo Pahlmeyer will pour her 1997 Pahlmeyer from magnum. On Oct. 18, Paul Wasserman will present his family’s portfolio of Champagne and Burgundies. On Oct. 19, it will be another 1997, this time Dal Forno Recioto di Valpolicella in magnum (a rare treat); the last night, Saturday, Oct. 20, is a surprise, still to be announced.
In addition, come in with your smartphone and look up any wine on their list over $150 on Winesearcher and you can drink it at the restaurant for the lowest retail price in town.
