Bob Ross gets even more soothing with ‘Happy Little Clouds’ video

Bob Ross, PBS’ iconic host of “The Joy of Painting,” was one of TV’s most calming presences with his hushed voice, his pillowy head of hair and his penchant for painting “happy little trees” and “happy little clouds.” Somehow, the network has managed to make Ross even more soothing with its just-released remix video, “Happy Little Clouds.”

The autotuned video, created by Symphony of Science’s John D. Boswell, is a follow-up to PBS Digital’s first viral hit, “Garden of Your Mind,” featuring an autotuned Mister Rogers.

Ross’ “The Joy of Painting” was a half-hour show that ran on PBS from 1983 until 1994 and took viewers through the step-by-step process of creating a landscape painting. In Ross’ world, there were no mistakes, only happy accidents.

Ross died in 1995, a year after ending the series in order to battle lymphoma.

The Mister Rogers “Garden of Your Mind” video was released last month as part of a push by PBS to raise awareness in the online world. It became a viral hit, grabbing 5.7 million views on YouTube to date.
