Jim Lindberg reunites with Pennywise

For fans of the South Bay veteran hard-core band Pennywise, bro hymns will sound all the sweeter today. Jim Lindberg, the band’s original and longtime lead vocalist, has rejoined the band after his 2010 departure.

The band broke the news on KROQ-FM’s “Kevin and Bean” show, simultaneously annoucing Linderg’s comeback show on Jan. 18 at the Hollywood Palladium. Lindberg replaces Zoli Teglas, the former Ignite singer who replaced Lindberg, after Teglas bowed out after suffering a serious back injury at a European show.

Lindberg, for his part, had formed a side project The Black Pacific, and wrote a book about punk-rock fatherhood during his absense.

Pennywise originally formed in 1988 and has forged a remarkably consistent sound and career that has occasionally flirted with mainstream audiences through KROQ-favorite singles such as “Alien.” Its most recent album was May’s “All or Nothing,” for L.A.’s Epitaph Records.

Tickets for the Palladium show go on sale Friday at 10 a.m. Expect longtime fans to be extra enthusiastic with their whoa-oh-oh-ohs this time around.
