Seth MacFarlane: Career in pictures
MacFarlane was a rising star in December 1998 when he sat down with Times photographer Al Seib for our “Faces to Watch” issue. By then he’d started working with Fox and would soon launch what would become one of the network’s most successful animated cult comedies: “Family Guy.” (Al Seib / Los Angeles Times)
“Family Guy” launched in 1999, born out of MacFarlane’s earlier animated shorts “The Life of Larry” (1995) and “Larry & Steve” (1997). Both series chronicled the life of main character Larry and his highly intellectual dog Steve. The series ran from 1999-2002, and was revived in 2005. (Al Seib / Los Angeles Times )
