Bret Michaels, Kristi Gibson call off engagement, separate

Bret Michaels has taken a page from “The Bachelor” playbook: Get engaged in a big way to cap a reality-TV season, get un-engaged quietly in the pages of a magazine down the line.
Michaels — Poison frontman, “Celebrity Apprentice” winner, brain-hemorrhage survivor, pet-gear impresario — has broken it off with longtime girlfriend Kristi Gibson, whom he proposed to on “Bret Michaels: Life As I Know It” in late 2010, after what was then 16 years together.
“Although the couple have separated they remain great friends and are committed to jointly raising their two daughters,” a Michaels rep told People on Monday.

The rocker always seemed a bit reluctant when it came to saying “I do,” telling the mag before the engagement episode aired, “Love and marriage are the ultimate, but I still get a little sweaty about the marriage thing.”
So much for no sweat.
Michaels and Gibson have two kids together, Raine, 12, and Jorja, 7.
