Shortest celebrity marriages
By Rachel Abramowitz
The course of true love never did run smooth” either in Shakespeare or in Hollywood, the hometown of a veritable legion of minute-marriers: celebs whove merrily married only to divorce hours, days, or months later. No wonder Hollywood is also a fertile breeding ground for pre-nups. (Gina Ferazzi / Los Angeles Times)
Perhaps its not such a good idea to get engaged after only a month of dating? Addison Montgomerys real-life alter ego married Young in Ojai on Sept 1, 2007. Young filed for divorce on Dec. 11, 2008 after 15 months of marriage. So much for private practice. (Charley Gallay / Getty Images)
Jennifer Lopez
Before there was Marc Anthony, J.Lo had two micro-marriages, with waiter Ojani Noa (February 1997- March 1998, 13 months) and backup singer Cris Judd (pictured; September 2001-July 2002, eight months). Lopez did not take kindly to former hubbie Noa trying to cash in on their relationship with a tell-all book, and in 2006 she sued him for violating their confidentiality agreement. In 2007, a court-appointed arbitrator backed Lopez, and ordered Noa to not only refrain from publishing, but also to pay his furious ex-spouse $545,000 in compensatory damages. Britney Spears and Jason Allen Alexander
Before Spears got psyche-unit wacky, she did have one of the shortest celebrity unions (55 hours) on file, with childhood friend Alexander. The pair married Jan. 3, 2004 at The Little White Wedding Chapel in Las Vegas, and ended with an annulment plea (made public courtesy by The Smoking Gun) that declared that the pop star “lacked understanding of her actions to the extent that she was incapable of agreeing to marriage because before entering into the marriage the Plaintiff and Defendant did not know each others’ likes and dislikes, each others’ desires to have or not have children, and each other’s desires as to State of residency.
