Hollywood headlines: A crazy week in review
“American Idol” has barely gotten underway, and a purported feud between Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj -- they’ve both denied the beef -- has become a full-blown diva showdown, as seen in video leaked by TMZ. In the clip, Minaj and Carey are in a heated argument that reportedly derailed auditions in Charlotte, N.C. There’s plenty of swearing and shouting in the clip, so it’s hard to fully decipher the argument. However, Minaj called the pop diva “disrespectful” and Carey replied by calling her a word that rhymes with “itch.”

A day before band members gathered at the Grammy Museum in Los Angeles to take in various accolades, singer and lyricist Mike Love caught his fellow band members by surprise in announcing his decision to resume touring with his latter-day incarnation of the Beach Boys — minus creative leader Brian Wilson or original members Al Jardine and David Marks. Friday, Love wrote to The Times with his thoughts on the matter, saying he didn’t fire Wilson and that his bandmates always knew there would be tours by two different versions of the band.

Before Julianne Moore took home that Emmy last month, someone appears to have taken home some prizes of their own from her New York brownstone: $127,000 worth of jewelry reportedly went missing over the summer. A complaint was filed Monday stating that 10 pieces of jewelry, among them bracelets, watches and a necklace, belonging to the “Game Change” actress were taken between June 6 and Aug. 28, when the brownstone was being remodeled. The priciest of the items: a Cartier tennis bracelet valued at $33,000.

Justin Bieber’s concert went off the script last Saturday night in Arizona when he vomited while performing “Out of Town Girl.” Bieber later brought up his gastrointestinal troubles at his Staples Center performance after a ho-hum acoustic medley he delivered atop a giant crane. He was telling the audience how he doesn’t like doing interviews or photo shoots — that what he really cares about is performing for his fans. “I’m not up here sick,” he said. “I’m good!”

With a Monkees reunion tour looming next month, singer, songwriter and guitarist Michael Nesmith has taken to Facebook to head off what he says is a campaign by a contingent of Monkees fans who are threatening to boycott the tour unless actor Kevin Spacey steps in for the late Davy Jones to sing “Daydream Believer.”
