When Ricky Gervais hosted the Golden Globes last year, he noted that “the Golden Globes are just like the Oscars but without all that esteem.” He then went on to say that the Globes are to the Oscars what Kim Kardashian is to Kate Middleton: “A bit louder, a bit trashier, a bit drunker and more easily bought. Allegedly. Nothing’s been proved,” he said.
What new hosts Tina Fey and Amy Poehler have to say about the hand that feeds them remains to be seen, as the 70th annual Golden Globe Awards are set to take place Sunday at the Beverly Hilton Hotel. But when you have two comedians at the helm, anything can happen.
The show starts at 5 p.m. Pacific (8 p.m. Eastern) on NBC, with the red carpet officially starting at 2:30 p.m. Pacific -- though don’t expect to see much major star wattage till 4 p.m., when the televised pre-show begins. You can follow it all live on Twitter with tweets from Los Angeles Times staff below.
