Lawmaker introduces ‘Snookiville law’ to regulate reality TV shows

New Jersey officials are tired of being snookered by out-of-control reality TV programs.

Fed up with the antics of reality TV stars including Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi and other cast members from MTV’s “Jersey Shore,” New Jersey state Assemblyman Ronald Dancer has introduced legislation that would give towns more say over reality TV shows that shoot in their communities.

“These shows can attract crowds, which can benefit local businesses and challenge a community’s resources,” Dancer said in a statement. “The bill will permit local officials to make sure taxpayers don’t get ‘Snook’ ered or public safety is compromised when reality stars such as Snooki or J-Woww come to town.”

Dancer cited brawls and drunken behavior in public by cast members of “Jersey Shore” during its taping in Seaside Heights.

Although the final season of “Jersey Shore” begins airing Oct. 4, Snooki and costar Jennifer “J-Woww” Farley have been filming a spinoff series in Manchester, N.J.

An MTV spokesman was not immediately available for comment.
