Steve Vai lists Hollywood Hills house and studio

Steve Vai, a three-time Grammy-winning rock guitarist, has listed a home and recording studio in the Hollywood Hills at $1.795 million.
The site of the 1,400-square-foot studio, called the Mothership Studio, and 3,981-square-foot home was purchased by Vai in 1987 for $330,000. By that time in his professional life he had spent two years touring with Frank Zappa and had launched a solo career.
Distinctive L.A. homes draw vacationers
The studio includes a live room, a booth, a microphone room, a control room, its own kitchen and a lounge area. The house features a den, family and living rooms, three bedrooms and 4½ bathrooms.
