Riot Games president buys an oceanfront home in Malibu for $13.1 million

Marc Merrill, the cofounder and president of game developer Riot Games, maker of the online battle game “League of Legends,” has bought an oceanfront home in Malibu for $13.085 million.

Designed by Scott Gillen and built in 2013, the two-story house has a contemporary coastal vibe. Open concept interiors feature hand-scraped oak floors, exposed wood-beam ceilings and white gallery walls. Floor-to-ceiling glass and Fleetwood sliding doors bring ocean views inside.

A chef’s kitchen, a media/living room, a family room and a floating stainless steel staircase lie within more roughly 7,800 square feet of interiors. Four bedrooms and four bathrooms include a master suite with a glass-enclosed rain shower, a walk-in closet and a private deck. There’s also a nursery.

An ocean-view deck extends off the main level for outdoor entertaining.

The house came to market in May for $13.95 million and closed sale in about 45 days, records show.

Sandro Dazzan and Irene Dazzan-Palmer of Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage were the listing agents, according to the Multiple Listing Service.

Merrill cofounded Los Angeles-based Riot Games with Brandon Beck in 2006 and cocreated the company’s free-to-play game “League of Legends,” released in 2009. The multiplayer online battle arena game, among the most developed titles in eSports, earned a reported $1.6 billion in revenue last year.
