Vice Media President Andrew Creighton picks up a breezy Midcentury in Malibu

Another Vice Media exec has made himself at home near Los Angeles’ Westside.

Following in the footsteps of co-founder Shane Smith, who last year made a $23-million splash in Santa Monica, Vice President Andrew Creighton has bought an oceanfront home in Malibu for $7.15 million.

Designed by noted architect Edward Fickett, the 1970s home known as the Miller residence combines classic California Modern style with the breezy lifestyle of Malibu.

An open floor plan of nearly 4,000 square feet features soaring ceilings, vintage tongue-and-groove siding, beamed ceilings and skylights that bathe the interiors in natural light. Walls of glass doors and windows bring unobstructed ocean views inside.

Among living areas is a den, an art studio, an atrium, three bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms. A Midcentury wall fireplace with a trapezoid-shaped hearth sits between the living room and the eat-in kitchen. There’s also a sauna.

Outdoors, a wide deck opens to a paver patio and a small patch of grass. An ocean-view balcony sits off the second floor.

The house originally came to market in June for $8 million and was more recently priced at $7.488 million, records show.

Madison Hildebrand and Jennifer Chrisman of Partners Trust Malibu were the listing agents. Aram Afshar of Coldwell Banker represented the buyer.

Creighton joined Vice, the alternative news company co-founded by Smith, Gavin McInnes and Suroosh Alvi, in 2002. The company was valued at more than $2.5 billion last summer after striking an investment deal with A&E Networks, a joint venture of Walt Disney Co. and Hearst.
