For Valentine’s Day, it’s Vegas, baby!
For the second year in a row, Las Vegas ranked as the most popular destination for Valentine’s Day among people who booked hotel rooms on Orbitz, one of the nation’s most popular travel website.
Vegas also ranked as the “sexiest” city in the country, bumping last year’s winner of the sexy title, San Francisco, according to a separate Orbitz survey of more than 750 travelers.
Despite Las Vegas’ popularity for Valentine’s Day, 46% of travelers who were surveyed said “a bungalow on a remote beach” was the most preferred type of romantic vacation, surpassing a “cozy bed & breakfast in wine country” (24%), an “upscale boutique hotel in the heart of the city” (16%), and “ski chalet in the mountains” (9%).
Los Angeles did not make the top 10 list of popular Valentine’s Day destinations but the City of Angels did rank as the seventh “sexiest” city in the country, behind Miami (2), New York (3), Aspen, Colo. (4), San Francisco (5) and New Orleans (6), according to Orbitz.
