Dog Whisperer: In the season premiere Howie Mandel calls on Cesar Millan for help with his Chihuahua, Lola, whose aggressive behavior is coming between Howie and his wife (5 and 8 p.m. National Geographic).

Medium: Is Allison’s (Patricia Arquette) gift contagious? Scanlon (David Cubitt) starts seeing the dead in his dreams — specifically, his late brother in this new episode (8 p.m. CBS).

Smallville: Kara (Laura Vandervoort) returns to Earth with a surprise for Clark (Tom Welling): Jor-El has sent her to stop a dark force that he doesn’t think Clark is capable of handling, in this new episode (8 p.m. KTLA).

The Good Guys: Wayne Knight (“Seinfeld”) guest stars in this new episode, which finds Jack and Dan (Colin Hanks, Bradley Whitford) investigating a small-time mail theft that leads them to an identity theft and forgery operation linked to a pair of murderous drug smugglers. Danny Trejo also stars in this new episode (9 p.m. Fox).

Fatal Attractions: What happens when humans make pets out of animals that aren’t meant to be pets is the subject of this series, which starts a new season with a look at three cases of big cats living with people (9 p.m. Animal Planet).

Teach: Tony Danza: Half the kids fail their first quiz and Tony risks legal trouble by denying special needs students in this new episode (10 p.m. A&E).

MOVIES

Aliens: More than 50 years after escaping death at the jaws of a voracious creature, Ellen Ripley (Sigourney Weaver) awakens from hypersleep to discover unwitting humans have settled on the alien planet in director James Cameron’s rousing 1986 sequel to “Alien.” Bill Paxton, Paul Reiser and Michael Biehn co-star (8 p.m. AMC).
