Critic’s Pick: ‘Green Zone’
Every once in a while, a smart, exciting and well-made adult film comes out that audiences decide to bypass, and “Green Zone” is the current example. As created by director Paul Greengrass, Oscar-winning screenwriter Brian Helgeland and star Matt Damon, this risk-taking endeavor uses the narrative skills and drive Greengrass honed on “The Bourne Ultimatum” and “The Bourne Supremacy” and marries them to reality-based political concerns. More specifically, this is a red-hot action thriller that deals candidly and unapologetically with the situation in Iraq. It’s a shame it’s being ignored.
